I toyed with the idea of Wiki.js, finally deciding it was time to take the plunge. The XWiki had the content exported and the docker container shut down. I opted not to go the container route for this installation as I prefer to have control over what is happening. Besides, it just adds a layer of complexity that really isn't required.

The installation process itself for PostgreSQL was pretty simple, following the docs on the site. Unfortunately I couldn't use the version included in the existing repo as it was too old and didn't meet the requirements.

Installing node is not something I've had to do for quite some time. It also didn't seem like an overly friendly experience either. There was a few different paths I could head down on this route but eventually opted for NVM (Node Version Manager) as I felt that this would offer me the control I wanted over which version to install.

TiddlyWiki has been my favorite wiki on this list, It is an open-source portal one-file wiki that does not even require install. Despite its simple use and look, it has a rich list of features, plugins, and themes.

MediaWiki is an open-source Wiki engine that runs Wikipedia. It is the oldest system in the list and some may consider it the king of Wiki engines. It supports almost all available languages as it is easy to install and use.

This guide provides easy to follow steps for installing and using Foundry as a headless server in a linux environment. It is written to account for a number of linux common linux distributions and installation scenarios.

Troubleshooting assistance for this guide can be found on the official Foundry Discord. Copy the link from the specific step number (ie: C5) you are having difficulty with and then post in the #install-and-connection channel on the Foundry Discord.

How to connect to your server is out of scope for this guide. You should have terminal access if you installed linux on a local pc, or if you are using a cloud VPS/VM provider then review their documentation for how to get ssh or terminal access to your instance.

At the end of this section you will have a functional installation of Foundry using HTTPS and Caddy as a reverse proxy. Foundry will be set to restart any time the server is restarted, managed by pm2.

I'm trying to set up an OpenLDAP server on CentOS Stream 9, currently the server is only used to host a Wiki.JS wiki.I've installed the OpenLDAP server and client packages through yum without any problems but when I try to start slapd services it fails, the log is as follows:

However, there are some third-party solutions. For example, Termux community provides terminal emulator and Linux environment for Android, as well as own package manager and extensive collection of many precompiled applications. This command in Termux app will install the last available Node.js version:

AzuraCast is server-based software that is installed on a VPS, dedicated server or other computer and serves both your station broadcasts and its own web interface through the server's network connection.

If you're looking to install AzuraCast on your Windows installation, this is now possible thanks to the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL2). Follow our Windows-specific guide for tips on how to get AzuraCast up and running easily on a Windows computer.

CodiMD is great for collaborative work, but I would like to use it for personal notes on my laptop (Ubuntu 18.04), configured so that it works without an internet connection and uses as few resources as possible. The manual installation seems like a good starting point, but the instructions assume knowledge of Node, npm, database admin, etc. which I am not familiar with. I don't need TLS, user authentication, or connections to cloud services.

Update 2020-04-26: I have come a long way with CodiMD, but still love it. The steps below are my 'new-and-improved' install process. In particular, one should not edit .js files as I did above, use Postgres instead of SQLite, and https.

As of version 7 (and above), the DSpace application is split into a "frontend" (User Interface) and a "backend" (Server API). Most institutions will want to install BOTH. However, you can decide whether to run them on the same machine or separate machines.

Maven is necessary in the first stage of the build process to assemble the installation package for your DSpace instance. It gives you the flexibility to customize DSpace using the existing Maven projects found in the [dspace-source]/dspace/modules directory or by adding in your own Maven project to build the installation package for DSpace, and apply any custom interface "overlay" changes.

Apache Ant is required for the second stage of the build process (deploying/installing the application). First, Maven is used to construct the installer ([dspace-source]/dspace/target/dspace-installer), after which Ant is used to install/deploy DSpace to the installation directory.

Make sure to install Solr with Authentication disabled (which is the default). DSpace does not yet support authentication to Solr (see ). Instead, we recommend placing Solr behind a firewall and/or ensuring port 8983 (which Solr runs on) is not available for public/anonymous access on the web. Solr only needs to be accessible to requests from the DSpace backend.

Create a DSpace operating system user (optional) . As noted in the prerequisites above, Tomcat (or Jetty, etc) must run as an operating system user account that has full read/write access to the DSpace installation directory (i.e. [dspace]). Either you must ensure the Tomcat owner also owns [dspace], OR you can create a new "dspace" user account, and ensure that Tomcat also runs as that account:

Alternative method: How to enable pgcrypto via a separate database schema. While the above method of enabling pgcrypto is perfectly fine for the majority of users, there may be some scenarios where a database administrator would prefer to install extensions into a database schema that is separate from the DSpace tables. Developers also may wish to install pgcrypto into a separate schema if they plan to "clean" (recreate) their development database frequently. Keeping extensions in a separate schema from the DSpace tables will ensure developers would NOT have to continually re-enable the extension each time you run a "./dspace database clean". If you wish to install pgcrypto in a separate schema here's how to do that: 350c69d7ab
